Children Training

Prastaavanaa (INTRODUCTION)

Owing to the current trends of Globalization, and economic boom, children today are under an enormous amount of pressure. A great deal of emphasis is placed on academics, with important aspects of character and personality development of the child is being neglected. It is of utmost importance that education of any kind should contain ingredients which help in elucidating the directions and paths the society is treading upon. CAMP FRONTIER views the world and the changing scenario with a fresh perspective.

It has been obvious, in the last decades, to those of us who have been fortunate enough to travel around the world, that human encroachment and the impact of people on the earth’s resources have been ‘spectacular’. Huge tracts of land of what was considered wild nature have been transformed into sterile areas or biologically impoverished monocultures. The wild resources have lost their habitats or have been overexploited close to extinction.

What chance does wildlife have, confronted with humans who consider wild predators as rivals and wild herbivores as undesirable consumers of their grass, their crops and their trees? There are luckily throughout the world many examples which demonstrate the possibility for wildlife and people to coexist:

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. - Anne Frank

CAMP FRONTIER program emphasis “the need not stand idle” as we watch this process. Instead, in the face of human populations whose motivation is to survive and improve their quality of life, we can and must reconcile the conservation of humanity’s biological heritage within the child root level to encourage sustainable development, within the limits of what our planet can produce. We should also, in this process, preserve the diversity of cultures and landscapes which make this world so wondrous. It is our responsibility to educate children.

Children are like sponges with lot of capacity to absorb and deliver. It is at this age that they need to learn; as they may be the better ones to find solutions for them than a person sitting in a room with lot of qualification but unable to provide a solution. As part of our programs we include few of the topics related to the depletion of our biodiversity like:-

  • Global Warming
  • Deforestation
  • Waste Management
  • Trading of Wildlife

These are few of the topics that will be open for discussions and debates during the course of the program. Each and every program will be designed differently keeping in mind the age group of students for that particular duration. Our motive to make learning fun so we also include lots of adventure activities in the wild as a part of our curriculum so that while having fun they also learn a lot about there environment.

Schools today are becoming increasingly aware of ‘outdoor education’ as an empowering option for increasing personal and interpersonal awareness among students, interest in the natural world, and developing sense of responsibility and self-management.

It is here that Outbound training programs for children play an important role. These programs help develop and boost self confidence and self belief of the children through a variety of fun and games. Schools are also gradually realizing the benefits of coupling indoor teaching together with outdoor education, in order to increase the personal as well as inter-personal development of children.

Why send your child to camp?

CAMP FRONTIER has a deep interest in working with students in the outdoors. To this end, we offer a variety of outbound programs for students, which can be offered in increasing levels to the various standards in schools, colleges and other educational institutions, to encourage an evolving and lasting attitude toward being aware about the world we live in, and the people we live among.

Camp is a powerful tool to help with your child's development of skills needed to become a healthy, fully functioning adult.

Educational programs are designed with the syllabus of attending class in mind and can focus on various aspects of their formal education. It is difficult to describe this, as the syllabus is vast, but CAMP FRONTIER will try and explain how they try and bring in elements from their text books alive and generate an interest beyond the written word, that encourages them to actively pursue learning :-

  • To instill in the child a sense of responsibility and management
  • To develop the child’s personality
  • To emphasize the development of social and interpersonal skills in the child.
  • To emphasize the importance of moral values among children.
  • To emphasize the importance of our environment.

The CAMP FRONTINER way……“Pa.nthaa” –

Experiential learning camps are designed to encourage students to analyze their own behavior and actively learn more from it; which is an unending spiral of doing, reflecting, analyzing and planning for the next action. They see how we do it all the time, whether consciously, or unconsciously, and how knowing this can help them understand themselves and plan their actions in a better way.

In the CAMP FRONTIER programs, we explore & experience communication, authority, discipline, responsibility, conflict management, adding value, conserving your environment and many other subjects that are the need from education today. Teachers have a great amount of interest in “teaching at their best” but are often and unconsciously trapped in preformatted, knee-jerk methods of managing it. This program hopes to explore choices available to the children, their potential, and implications.

Participants learn the skills of living amid nature and discover the world around them. The camp begins with arrival on location and identification of the place to stay in. This could be a forest, or an area to pitch tents or even an improvised shelter in the case of older students.

This is about experience actively guiding our actions and such programs are very successful in developing individuality, initiative, motivation, leadership skills, discipline, co-operation, etc through self-learning, which leads to more effective outcomes than learning through external guidance.

The CAMP FRONTINER Program “Samaaroha” –

The program activities have been grouped into three section: Awareness, Understanding and Action.

How do we work: AWARENESS? Nature is more than plain fun and frolic in the outdoors. Eco-tourism is to enable people to enjoy and learn about the natural, historical and cultural characteristics of unique environments while preserving the integrity of those sites and stimulating the economic development opportunities in local communities. On the other hand, we say we love nature. The leaves rustling in the wind, the smell of a forest; an eagle soaring in the sky; clichéd symbols all of them, but very pleasing even then.

After the fun what do we do on UNDERSTANDING we live on a huge planet with seemingly infinite resources that we use freely. So freely, that a distant observer might think that we have a spare planet to go to; once we are done with earth. It is not a marketing ploy, nor is it scenic or nature-based travel. It is an approach that creates a variety of quality tourism that is environmentally and ecologically sustainable, economically viable, and socially and psychologically acceptable.

You can’t build a reputation on what you're going to do. A very effective option in student camps is to combine experiential learning with 5-7 day adventure introduction programmes and utilize their introductory experiences in various adventure sports as activities that are reviewed. This not o¬nly gives the benefit of a longer duration of a programme and helps the learning become more concrete, but also enhances their adventure experiences and training. A definite win-win situation:
